frequently asked questions

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

You don’t have to have it all figured out to start therapy. If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, disconnected, or like you’re just going through the motions…that’s enough. If something in your life or in you is asking for attention, that’s worth listening to. Therapy might be right for you if you’re even a little curious about yourself—your patterns, your relationships, your reactions—and open to exploring them in a safe, supportive space. You don’t need the “perfect” reason or the right words. You just need a willingness to show up, be honest, and try something different. We’ll figure the rest out together.

What does a first session look like?

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s completely normal to feel a little nervous about it. The first session is really just a conversation where we begin getting to know each other and talking about what’s been going on in your life. We’ll spend some time discussing what brought you to therapy, what challenges you’ve been experiencing, and what you’re hoping to get out of the process. I may also ask some questions about your background and relationships so I can better understand your story and how to best support you. There’s no pressure to have everything figured out or to share more than you’re ready to. Therapy moves at your pace. My goal is simply to create a space where you feel safe, heard, and supported as we begin this work together. How long does therapy typically last?

There’s no one-size-fits-all timeline for therapy. Some people come in with a specific situation they want support around, and we work together for a shorter period of time. Others are looking for something deeper—healing, growth, understanding themselves and their relationships—and that naturally takes longer. Therapy isn’t about rushing or “fixing” you. It’s about creating real, lasting change at a pace that actually feels supportive and sustainable. We’ll check in along the way and adjust as needed. You get to decide what feels right for you.

Is online therapy as effective as in-person?

Yes—online therapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy. What matters most isn’t the couch or the office—it’s the relationship you build with your therapist and how safe you feel showing up as yourself. For a lot of people, being in their own space actually makes it easier to open up. It can feel more comfortable, more convenient, and more consistent with real life. That said, everyone is different. Some people prefer in-person, and that’s great too. We can talk through what feels best for you.

Do you prescribe medication?

No - but I have resources and referrals I am willing to provide if needed!

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

No shows incur a $100 fee. All cancellations and reschedules with less than 24 hours of notice will be subject to a $100 fee.
